Hwasa
Hwasa is a member of the South Korean girl group MAMAMOO formed by RBW Entertainment. She is also one of the most successful female solo artists in Korea. Hwasa made her official debut in MAMAMOO on June 18, 2014, with the song “Mr. Ambiguous.” Aside from the MAMAMOO members, they acted with different celebrities such as CNBLUE's Jonghyun, Baek Ji-young, Wheesung, Jung Joon-young, Bumkey, K.Will, and Rhymer in their debut music video. 2015 became the year that MAMAMOO rose to success. Their song Um Oh Ah Yeh from the third album got high rankings in the Korean music charts. As part of the success of the group, they also got their first solo concert in the said year. Since then, all members including Hwasa became active in several activities such as variety shows, collaborations, and many more. In 2016, MAMAMOO also made its debut in Japan with the song Decalcomanie (Japanese version). Since then, most of the songs that were released by the groups charted high on several Korean and international charts. MAMAMOO is famous for its songs Starry Night, Um Oh Ah Yeh, Egotistic, Decalcomanie, Piano Man, and more. In 2018, Hwasa joined the program Hyena on the Keyboard. She released a collaboration track with Loco titled Don’t and it topped several Korean charts. The song became a hit and got downloaded million times. In the same year, Hwasa appeared in the program I Live Alone and this is where her viral moments started. She made gopchang super popular in South Korea. Since then, Hwasa received several CF and TV offers and she became one of the most sought artists of the year. In February 2019, Hwasa made her solo debut. She released the song “Twit” which became a great hit. In 2019, MAMAMOO became one of the contestants in the program Queendom. Out of all the girl groups that joined, MAMAMOO won and they received a full-length comeback show to be broadcast on Mnet. 2020, MAMAMOO including Hwasa focused on their solo endeavors. In September 2020, Hwasa released another hit song titled Maria. In the same year, she also joined the girl group project called Refund Sisters formed by Hangout With You. The show was so successful that even their songs topped music charts. In 2021, the contracts of all the members expired with RBW Entertainment. Hwasa was the last member to renew her contract. In March 2022, MAMAMOO released a Japanese album titled The Best. From their debut up until now MAMAMOO already got 43 awards out of 159 nominations.
