Kim Ye Won is a member of the girl group VIVIZ formed by SISTAR Soyu’s company, BPM Entertainment. She is more known by the screen name Umji. Before Umji became a member of VIVIZ, she first debuted in another girl group. She was first known as the youngest of the girl group GFRIEND formed by Source Music Entertainment. Umji made her official debut on January 15, 2015. She was the lead rapper, vocalist, and maknae of the group, GFRIEND. Her first group GFRIEND is popular for their songs such as Glass Bead, Rough, Me Gustas Tu, and more. The group was active from 2015 until 2021. On May 22, 2021, Umji’s contract with Source Music ended. It was also revealed that her group GFRIEND will no longer promote. All the members of GFRIEND left the agency. Umji together with SinB and Eunha decided to move agencies and create a trio group. Umji decided to go to BPM Entertainment and signed on October 6, 2021. The agency shared that they will be the first girl group in their company. February of 2022, Umji together with SinB and Eunha, was announced as the member of the newest girl group called VIVIZ. They debuted with the mini-album titled Beam of Prism. Just seven days after VIVIZ debuted, the girls already got their first music show trophy. They became the fastest girl group to get a trophy on a music show alongside IVE. In the same month, it was also revealed that VIVIZ will be competing with other girl groups on Mnet’s program Queendom. When the show ended, VIVIZ took third place. Umji together with the two girls released a new album on July 6, 2022.
